Excuse Me While I Indulge In Self-Pity

Soon it will be my 35th birthday.

I will say to myself

“Today is ______’s birthday. How old is she?

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19. 20. 21. 22. 23. 24. 25. 26. 27. 28. 29. 30. 31. 32. 33. 34. 35.

Thirty-five years old.

And never been kissed by . . . anyone.”

it's ok, we all indulge in self-pity sometimes. (I even think it can be helpful.)

NJG, please remember, you're still young and have much to look forward to -- including marriage.(as well as much to be grateful for, as I know you are.)

I have been avidly reading your blog. Kudos for its raw honesty. But nowhere do I see a plan for your future life, in the event you never marry. It can happen & your life can still be very full. If you refuse to even think of that possibility, i believe you are condemning yourself to always sitting at the window, looking longingly outward, waiting for your life to begin. Do you honestly think that is the way God intended you to spend your days here on earth?

It can happen in an instant. I was in a similar situation. Dating no one for many years. Then I met a woman at an airport in Israel, we were on the same flight, and we fell in love and got married quickly. Just like that.
The weight issue I think you should deal w/ more seriously. If you are in fact overweight, then you would be better off to lose weight. This is because many men are very sight oriented. They will be more attracted to a woman w/ a fine body that is shapely. This you can accomplish by not just going to the gym but using a personal trainer.

You should be thankful that HaShem has given you the opportunity to have a good job, so you would be wise to invest in this, your Hishtadlus.

Finally, you must believe that the solution will come. We have seen many Yeshuos for people. We do not only deal w/ wealthy folks as has been claimed. We do a lot of Chassodim for the less fortunate and unlucky.

Stop and think. Maybe she is excruciatingly shy. Maybe she does not know how to get dates. Maybe she lives in a tiny community. Maybe she is not frum and the idea of using shadchanim has never occured to her. Maybe there is something unusual about her body that makes it hard.

How is your comment helpful? What makes you think she does NOT want to date?
